This position is located in Glacier National Park, in the Facility Management Division.
Duties
Responsible for the care, feeding, and assignment of the Park's stock, approximately 60 horses and/or mules. Ensures the upkeep, replacement, or purchase of all equipment and supplies for the operation.
Assists with procurement of weed-free certified hay, winter pasture, stock trucks and trailers. and shoeing services through contracts as subject matter expert.
Purchase of feed, medical supplies, shoeing supplies, and associated saddles, tack, and equipment through credit card purchase.
Performs periodic inspections of horse and mule herd to ensure proper use and care and corrects inadequacies between personnel and stock.
Performs duties of an Animal Packer, packing supplies and materials to backcountry locations for work crews, lookouts and special projects.
