Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, Law Enforcement Safety and Compliance (LESC) located in Harpers Ferry, W.V.

Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise to manage the day-to day life cycle of lethal and less lethal law enforcement assets. This position starts at a salary of $99,200.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $128,956.00 (GS-12, Step 10) Major Duties include but not limited to: Managing the day-to-day life cycle of lethal and less lethal law enforcement assets stored, maintained, destroyed, and disposed of at a National Vault. Processing, inventorying, shipping/receiving, maintaining, and disposing of sensitive law enforcement assets. Ensuring that all assets within their individual warranty periods are serviced appropriately and, if necessary, must coordinate repair/replacement with appropriate vendor(s). Overseeing the actual physical destruction of sensitive assets once they have reached the end of their service life.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Inspecting assets and recommending when an asset has reached the end of their service life. Assisting in physically destroying sensitive assets to include dangerous and hazardous assets, and law enforcement equipment. Assisting in preparing reports and delivery presentations regarding the processing, accountable destruction, and disposal of sensitive assets. Recommending or establishing changes to existing policies, directives, or procedures to ensure that modifications or new equipment will satisfactorily interface with existing equipment, facilities, or policies/procedures/directives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/09/2024.
