This position is located in Red Lake Indian Health Service. Inpatient services provided include medical, postsurgical, obstetrical, newborn and pediatric. Emergencies are treated on a 24-hour basis and there are regularly scheduled clinics in the outpatient unit. This position is to provide direction and leadership for Nursing Staff, participating and arranging for delivery of Hospital Services, in order to maintain continuity of patient care during the day, evening and/or night tour of duty.

Assures that quality age appropriate (neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) care is provided.
Makes rounds to assess patient conditions, observes the quality of nursing care provided and assists in solving patient care problems, using a written nursing care plan and adjusts it to meet the changing condition of the patient.
Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
Monitor and report on the status and progress of work checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisors' instruction on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
Prepare reports and maintains record of work accomplishments and administrative information as required, and coordinates the preparation, presentation and communication on work related information to the supervisor.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination(external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: for the GS-0610-11:
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples Include: Performs nursing concepts, principles necessary to provide professional assessment and therapeutic services; teaching principles, pharmaceuticals including their desired effects and complications; medical equipment and adeptness necessary to use them; diagnostic procedures and tests including their interpretation
and performance and counseling. Demonstrated management, administrative and supervisory expertise necessary to effectively manage nursing services in the medical clinic and to prioritize these services according to patient needs and outcomes. Communicate verbally with individuals and groups from various educational economic, and cultural backgrounds.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
