You will serve as a Health Technician (Audiology/Hearing Conservation Program) of NMRTU MCRD SAN DIEGO CA.
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will identify patient workplace hearing health hazards, determines program enrollment status, make pivotal patient care decisions, and take decisive action to conduct needed medical tests and procedures.
You will prepare patients for audiometric assessments, reviews, test procedure processes, and deliver clear, concise test procedure instructions.
You will evaluate the outer and middle ear function through otoscopic examination of the ear canals.
You will make disposition determinations, including triaging patient dispositions.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Utilizing federal, state, Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Navy (DON), and United States Marine Core (USMC) laws and regulations governing Hearing Conservation Programs. Knowledge of the program structure, stakeholder roles/responsibilities, and implementation/management requirements.
Managing a Health Conservation Program (HCP) clinic/office and oversee audiometric testing of alternate or part-time technicians while also managing and maintaining equipment and software and providing administrative program management assistance.
Utilizing Health Conservation Program's legal requirements, medical implications, software/database systems, medical coding procedures, and patient care management protocols.
Utilizing equipment for audiometric testing, recording and interpreting results, and ability to determine the need for additional tests or procedures and/or referral and to explain the purpose and results to employees.
Utilizing medical coding guidelines and skill in applying medical codes to individual patient diagnoses and procedures.
Utilizing the anatomy of the ear and the methods and practices used in the medical treatment to include specialized diagnostic and prevention procedures of disorders and injuries of the ear sufficient to recognize and assess deviations from normal conditions, make immediate modifications, and notify audiologist.
Utilizing DoD/DoN job-related hearing standards and medical referral criteria pertaining to hearing loss, tinnitus, communication impairments and medical qualification/fitness for duty determinations.
Utilizing DOEHRS-HC software application and DR database or other DoD approved hearing conservation testing software.
Reviewing and analyzing hearing conservation data, records, reports, and electronic audit trails to verify data accuracy and identify and rectify errors.
Utilizing electronic health record software systems, and ability to effectively learn, adapt and transition that proficiency to new systems and technology.
Utilizing the Medical Readiness Reporting System (MRRS) software and its applicability to hearing readiness.
Utilizing hearing protection device technology used in the military operational and industrial arenas including, active and passive forms of protection.
Utilizing interpersonal relationships and effective oral and written communication techniques to establish and maintain productive relationships and dialog with patients, medical and non-medical personnel, employee supervisors, and noise hazard command personnel.
Effectively educating others individually, or in varying sized groups, on proper device care and use.
Serving as an effective educator in the prevention of noise induced hearing loss.
Complying with infection control guidelines and universal precaution procedures.
Planning, organizing, solving problems, and managing clinic functions during moderately stressful operational levels.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
