The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as the Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM AC ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating and delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.

Duties

Direct all acquisition activities for a program. Utilize contracting and procurement knowledge to meet mission needs. Develop solutions to broad management/ business problems in which previously established techniques are inadequate. Make recommendations concerning procurement in accordance with organizational goals. Communicate (written and oral) with entities, such as representatives of other functional areas, managers, and representatives of other/higher command, industry and academia concerning acquisition management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position.
  • Selectee must meet position requirements for Foundational Certification in Contracting within 36 months of entrance on duty.
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Career Field Position.

  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • Occasional travel may be required, less than 25% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02/GS-11). DEVCOM AC is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Management Demo Projection. The DE-03 pay band is equivalent to the GS-12 steps 1-10 levels and GS-13 steps 1-10 levels.
