About the Position: Serve as Assistant for Conservation in the Environmental Quality Directorate, of the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health, under the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment.
Relocation incentive MAY be authorized by IAW agency policy.

Duties
Exercise program oversight for Environmental Quality programs throughout the Army.
Revise strategy or policy plans for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA) environmental planning.
Develop or implement Army-wide policy for broad-based environmental policy and program guidance.
Maintain awareness of policy or guidance emanating from the executive and legislative branches of the Federal government, DoD, and other Services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May require 10% Temporary Travel Duty.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security clearance.

Basic Requirement for Natural Resources and NEPA Officer, GS-0401-14:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing advice on statutory, regulatory and/or compliance; assist with developing and/or analyzing proposed, new or revised environmental protection and enhancement regulations; and assist with preparing environmental reports or related data such as compliance status. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
