The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties as a senior Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist providing a wide range of cyberspace network activities tailored to support critical Mission Relevant Terrain-Cyber (MRRT-C) support for command, control, processes, and systems.
Duties
Serves as a senior Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist providing a wide range of cyberspace network activities, develops and maintains required programs to support mission needs.
Analyzes complex operational and tactical processes and/or a variety of unusual problems, questions, or conditions relative to develop employ command, control, and mission information, processes, and systems (C2MIPS) in order to support related mission activities.
Performs required testing, troubleshoots, and corrects system and applicants' software discrepancies, manages mission knowledge, information, and situational awareness processes and systems for operational and tactical operating centers and units.
Determines MRT-C requirements and recognizes and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities over a limites staff.

- This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six (6) months of assignment to this position.

The duty of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. Experience: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes applying a broad range of IT cybersecurity principles, concepts, and methods to investigate, analyze, and respond to cyber incidents withing a computer network environment or enclave. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization; and apply agency safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
In-depth knowledge of a broad range of a broad range of IT cybersecurity principles, concepts, and methods to investigate, analyze, and respond to cyber incidents within a computer network environment or enclave.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance.
Knowledge of IT security principles, concepts, practices, system software, database software, and immediate access storage technology to carry out activities leading to security certification or accreditation.
Knowledge of IT security principles, policies, products and services to assess risk factors and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g. destructive programs/applications/viruses, unauthorized access, disruption of services, espionage) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
Knowledge of commonly applied telecommunications principles, concepts, and methodologies, operating characteristics and capabilities of systems, media, equipment, and related software, processes and procedures to assess the efficiency of operations and make recommendations involving equipment and system integrity.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization; and apply agency safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
