You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OA) in the Executive Support Staff Code 1100 for the Security and Fire Office Code 1120 in the NUC Operational Support SEC BR Code 1124 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will operate monitoring systems to include monitoring and controlling Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), CCTV, Radio, and Automated Access Control Systems (AACS) for special security missions.
You will receive incoming calls for non-emergency and emergency services, which will be transferred to CNIC dispatchers for orders to Fire, Security and/or Emergency Medical assets as the situation dictates.
You will plan and implement physical and information security measures for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information based on Department of Navy (DoN), Department of Energy (DOE), and NAVSEA requirements.
You will be responsible for physical protection of sensitive information or other material to ensure it is not compromised, sabotaged, or subjected to malicious mischief of other acts of willful interference at Government facilities.
You will prepare travel and training requests; messages in final form from rough drafts for signature release by supervisor; compose correspondence as outlined in regulations.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying DOD/DON principles, concepts, policies, and methods of security administration in the functional areas of Personnel Security, Information Security and Physical Security.
Experience operating computerized alarm monitoring systems to include monitoring and controlling Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), CCTV, Radio, and Automated Access Control Systems (AACS) for special security missions.
Experience applying security regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to the processing and determination of security clearance.
Experience performing on-site audits and surveys, recognizing deficiencies, recommending improvements, preparing reports, and providing guidance to others.
Experience using office automation systems and proficiency in typing skills.
