THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D1525000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.
Duties
As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32), WG-8852-12, you will act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi-engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers.
Provide detailed technical insight on individual aircraft's level of Mission Capability (MC), then develop and recommend a comprehensive course of action to maintain the aircraft at Full Mission Capability (FMC).
Observe and inspect performance and work procedures to ensure compliance with applicable technical publications, directives and local policy.
Control and perform work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, material and personnel.
Perform preflight, postflight, thru flight, periodic, isochronal, phase, hourly and special inspections, as well as servicing, defueling, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
Provide technical guidance and assistance to flight crews regarding observed discrepancies and experienced in-flight characteristics and system malfunctions.
Ensure that material and equipment are properly and safely protected and maintained.
Plan, develop and conduct training during the technician work week to a multi facet workforce comprised of from 3 to 8 assigned military positions.
Make diagnoses and solve malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex state of the art computerized and/or non computerized diagnostic and precision equipment, by studying layout drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams and by analyzing construction and operating characteristics of aircraft and their components.
Perform in-process and final inspection of aircraft and components undergoing repair, overhaul and/or modification to verify and certify by signature adherence to work techniques, procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
The area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Minimum rank requirement of TSgt and May not exceed the rank of MSgt.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-12 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10 grade level. Perform duties as a dedicated crew chief. Responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers. Coordinate the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft. Serve as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
