About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Enterprise Operations Directorate, Security Division, Charlottesville, VA 22911
Duties
Serves as a Police Officer, to maintain law and order within the federal jurisdiction of National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) facilities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established procedures.
Observes conduct of individuals to detect suspicious behavior or intent to disturb peace and order.
Investigates unusual or suspicious circumstances.
Prevents unauthorized access to NGIC facilities, materials and information.
Monitors physical security of the facility through closed circuit television and various alarm systems.
Enforces NGIC procedures and regulations on access to facilities, ensuring that all individuals entering NGIC facilities have proper identification, clearances and access documentation.
Ensures that Center employees adhere to established secure operating procedures.
Inspects packages, equipment, and hand carried articles entering and leaving facilities, to enforce compliance with classified and compartmented materials controls.
Prevents unauthorized access to NGIC facilities, materials and information.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may occasionally be required.
- Must be able to successfully complete a Federal Police Academy.
- Must be able to work 12 hour shifts or longer.
- Must be able to rotate from night shift to day shift as part of a rotation cycle.
- Must be able to successfully complete an annual medical physical.
- Must be able to complete an annual Physical Ability Test consisting of a minimum of 19 Push Ups in 2 minutes or less and a 1.5 Mile run in 17:30 minutes or less.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience performing duties in three or more of the following areas: monitoring closed circuit television and various alarm systems; safeguarding facilities, equipment, materials and/or information; detecting, preventing and investigating crimes, misconduct, unusual or suspicious circumstances and/or behaviors; apprehending violators; maintaining order; assisting with public safety.
