About the Position: Planning, scheduling, and overseeing execution and coordination of hydrographic and topographic surveys performed by in-house (hired labor) field crews. Responsible to coordinate with all construction activities as applicable and participate in timely, accurate resolution of contract-related technical issues.

Duties

Responsible for coordination with the Geospatial Data Coordinator to ensure that all mapping data is entered in the Geospatial Data Inventory. Work directly supports the design, construction, and operation and maintenance functions with projects that includes levees, navigation locks and dams, recreation facilities, environmental restoration, etc. Works in the field to accomplish tasks when needed. All surveys are completed in an electronic environment using total stations, digital levels, and global positioning system (DGPS) and Real Time Kinematic (RTK) equipment. Recommends the most feasible and cost-effective type of data acquisition to secure the desired objectives of the project. Guides the team in the acquisition, negotiation, administration, and quality assurance of lump-sum and indefinite delivery task orders on IDT survey contracts. Maintains or directs the maintenance of files for all Geospatial data related to surveying activities, including historical survey data, benchmark locations, positions, and elevations. Interprets plans and specifications and provides review comments for the purpose of approving or disapproving shop drawings, descriptive material, and catalog cuts submitted by construction contractors in accordance with terms of their contracts.

  • This position requires current or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment such as hard hat, life vest, safety shoes, safety goggles, etc.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
