This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, serving as the Chief of Staff to the Executive for Research Services. The incumbent works closely with the Executive for Research Services to carry out high priority projects. This includes fostering communication/workplace culture, budget and administration functions and ensuring collaboration and communication between components of Research Services and other offices, and overseeing all administrative activities.
Duties
As an SUPERVISORY ARCHIVIST, you will:
Independently carry out day-to-day operations using a variety of coordinating, planning, and leadership techniques in assuring that the work of the support and administrative staff and Research Services is successfully accomplished.
Ensure a high-level of communication within Research Services and supports communication activities with component heads, managers, supervisors, administrative staff, and stakeholders.
Develop work plans, provides general day-to-day direction in compliance with work plans and Research Services policies and procedures, monitors progress, and submits management reports.
Serve as the supervisor of the support and administrative staff, supervising the performance of employees from grades GS-8 through GS-14.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Supervising or leading an archival records program;
AND
Proposing and implementing solutions/strategies for program improvement to assure the continuing effectiveness of activities in support of an agency's mission;
AND
Collaborating and executing communication strategies, plans or policies to individuals.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.
Education
Individual Occupational Requirement
Basic requirement:
Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.
OR
Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Professional experience must have been in archival science, or in a directly related field of work such as history that involved the collection, appraisal, analysis, or synthesis of information having historical or archival values.
