This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of 41-04678, Prevention Specialist (Prev WF), GS-0101-11. Incumbent works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document.

Duties
Serves as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the Wing (WG) IPP program.
Supports inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the WG and NGB leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups.
Serves as the WG liaison for local military and civilian agencies to promote timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships.
Responsible for developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within WG.
Recruits, trains, and facilitates military volunteers for prevention activity implementation.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements for 0101 series & Group Standard for Professional & Scientific Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENT (GS-9 and GS-11):
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-09 and GS-11): Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level (or other equivalent pay systems) in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes knowledge of the principles and practices in the field of Integrated Primary Prevention Program Management for the development and analysis of the Prevention Programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures; producing reports and analyzes data to inform the implementation of the Integrated Primary Prevention Program; providing expert technical assistance to professionals in the field and introduces innovative approaches and extension of established methods and practices. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts.
OR
EDUCATION (GS-9): Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or master's or equivalent graduate degree in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
EDUCATION (GS-11): 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION (GS-09 and GS-11): A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT TO VERIFY YOUR EDUCATION.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts and social-ecological systems theory. Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in program planning.
2. Skill in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs. and the marketing of programs Excellent skills in oral and written communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided.
3. Knowledge of and skill in planning. conducting and evaluating Primary Prevention training programs. Knowledge of the regulations. policies, and precedents that are used for developing action plans to implement approved prevention strategies
4. Ability to plan and adequately support the needs of National Guard members by determining what the future needs of the Service Member are through the interpretation and analysis of studies, and trends
5. Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the Prevention Programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures
6. Knowledge of and skill in applying the methods and techniques of fact finding, analysis, and resolution of complex problems and the development of concrete action plans to resolve problems. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
