The M2VA Social Work Supervisor has supervisory and administrative responsibility for the management of the assigned social workers who function within The M2VA unit. As the supervisor, they assist in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the Social Work staff. The Supervisor will also have direct patient care responsibilities.
Duties
Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to patients. Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals inpatient days, patient demographics, equipment utilization and patient satisfaction. Develops, implements and evaluates clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services and program's effectiveness.
Serves as point of contact for all inquiries regarding the M2VA program. Incumbent is responsible for management of the nationwide Establishes collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines to foster their involvement in care of veterans with M2VA.
Identifies gaps in services and develops a plan, in consultation with M2VA staff and other departments as appropriate.
Functions as the Social Work member of the interdisciplinary M2VA treatment team. Clinical social work services are provided to the M2VA population with frequent complex and unpredictable caseload requirements. Such services include, but are not limited to psychosocial assessments, establishing realistic but achievable treatment goals.
May provide individual, family and group counseling aimed at helping the veteran and his family fine practical solutions to complex problems.

Qualifications

Supervisory Social Worker, GS-12
Education and Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all:
- Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with
other departments and quality improvement.
- Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services.
- Ability to provide staff training and development.
- Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers
