This position is located in the Division of Administrative Services, Nutrition and Dietetics Branch, Shiprock, NM. The function of Nutrition and Dietetics Services is to provide meal services to inpatients, outpatients or guests and employees. The primary purpose of this position is to collect, safeguard, account for and deposit cash collected from the cafeteria. Reports to the Cook Supervisor.

Duties

Operates electronic cash register and credit card machine. Provides excellent customer service while ringing up food items. Inform customers of total amount due. Receives cash and/or credit card from customer, examines for validity and genuineness, and provides correct change. Provide basic and routine information to customers concerning dining facility procedures and policies. Performs cash counts before opening the cash register and after closing this cash register. Safeguards money and keeps cash locked except when making change. Reconciles total cash in the cash drawer with end of day sales receipts. Completes accountability documentation, make cash deposits, and turns in collection reports. Checks and verifies meal tickets from customers. Reports discrepancies to supervisor and the Finance Department. Fill and replenish condiments, eating utensils, cups, napkins, beverages, and prepackaged food items in the cafeteria based on set par levels. Completes inventory procedures. Maintain order and cleanliness of cafeteria and dinning rooms. Assist with opening and closing of cafeteria and dining room. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-3: Six (6) months of general experience OR one (1) year of education above high school. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Education: Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Combining education and experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
