About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade, Network Enterprise Center in Fort Huachuca, AZ.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Supports Information Assurance (IA) compliance, mandates, roles, responsibilities, and procedures, consistent with technological advancements for achieving acceptable levels of security in for Information Systems (IS)
Serves as Subject Matter Expert and provides direct customer support to help resolve security vulnerability issues that cannot be resolved through automated means
Responsible for keeping systems and tools up to date with the latest system releases to mitigate threats and maintain current Anti-Virus protection and remediation
Keeps patch and remediation systems/tools up to date with the latest system releases and approved updates
Oversees installation, configuration, operation, and upgrade of a variety of protective network appliances and applications such as firewalls, intrusion detection and protection systems, etc.
Performs Forensics analysis resulting from IA violations, unexplained IS performance anomalies and incidents, and classified data spills
Performs staff assignments related to program planning, monitoring, and/or coordination of the systems life cycle functions
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This is an Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program position. Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the certification/recertification for this position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance with favorable T3 investigation. Failure to do so may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal Service
- This position is designated as non-critical sensitive, moderate risk position, with elevated rights on all systems and network devices (classified and unclassified) on Fort Huachuca Installation to perform compliance tasks on all devices.
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by:
Assessing the security posture of classified and unclassified Information Systems (IS) using automated tools
Determining root causes of vulnerabilities and the best methodology to remedy the identified vulnerabilities
Mitigating threats by keeping systems up to date with the latest system releases
Providing direct customer support to resolve security vulnerability/connectivity issues that can't be solved through automated means
Installing, configuring, operating, and upgrading protective network appliances and applications (i.e., firewalls, intrusion detection and protection systems, wireless intrusions detection system, web filtering devices)
