This vacancy is for a GS-0344-06/07, Program Support Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Workforce Management Staff (WMS), Elizabeth City, NC.
Duties
You will serve as a Program Support Assistant and be responsible for coordinating and providing a variety of program support and services to command customers and the Workforce Management Chief.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Specialized experience must include the following:
Performing a wide variety of administrative support functions such as selecting the most appropriate office automation software (word processing, spreadsheet, and databases)
Retrieving, manipulating and sorting electronic data; preparing, editing and formatting of complex documents and reports
Making travel arrangements; reviewing mail and preparing draft response prior to routing to appropriate person
Conducting files management and customer support/telephone coverage
Providing a variety of support services such as updating and maintaining automated information systems, software updates, equipment configuration, user access support, and related functions
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

GS-06
applicants may substitute successful completion of 1/2 year of appropriate graduate level education (9 semester hours, 13.5 quarter hours or the equivalent) in a field of study directly related to the work of the position to be filled for the required one year of specialized experience. Graduate education may be credited only when it is clearly directly related to the work of the position to be filled and equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
OR
a combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) may be used to meet the qualification requirements.
GS-07
applicants may substitute successful completion of 1 year of appropriate graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours, or the equivalent) in a field of study directly related to the work of the position to be filled for the required one year of specialized experience. Graduate education may be credited only when it is clearly directly related to the work of the position to be filled and equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
OR
a combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the first 1/2 year of progressive graduate study may be used to meet the qualification requirements.
COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements for GS-5 only. The total of the 2 percentages must equal at least 100%. Generally, one full academic year of study is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours or 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. College Transcript: If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses detailing each course by the number and department (i.e., bio 101, math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours and grade earned. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. education standards with your resume. You may submit an unofficial copy of the transcript at the initial phase of the application process. If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken.
