Dayton VAMC is looking for a laborer for the purpose of performing a wide variety of general laboring duties in support of the grounds maintenance and beautification functions.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
mowing grass and clipping hedges, shrubs and other plants using hand or self-propelled mowing and clipping equipment.
digging ditches, holes, and trenches using pick and shovel.
filling and tamping earth.
shoveling dirt and waste material into wheelbarrows or containers.
loading and unloading trucks and other conveyances.
removing snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, and building entrances using shovels, snow blowers, and power brooms.
applying de-icing materials by hand or with spreaders as directed for ice control.
performs other related work assignments as directed.
Work Schedule: 0700-1530 Monday-Friday

Physical Requirements: The work requires heavy lifting, moderate to strenuous physical effort and prolonged standing and walking. The work is performed inside and outside with exposure to extreme temperature, dirt and dust. The incumbent may be required to work irregular hours.

Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
