This position is located in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, in the Division of Interpretation and Education. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 12/09/2024 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.

Duties

The major duties for this position include the following: Communications and Media Design Interpersonal Skills Multimedia Technologies Project Management As a key member of a digital media team, the incumbent will complete project work designing and creating a variety of non-personal services (such as brochures, exhibits, waysides, websites, social media, podcasts, etc.). The work utilizes a windows-based operating system to produce nonpersonal media using desktop publishing applications, digital video editing, still photography production, website creation and other software applications to facilitate the electronic development of non-personal interpretive services. Will be responsible for editing a variety of visual communications and presentation materials, such as, newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, fact sheets, fliers, spreadsheets, website content, and new releases using appropriate grammar and punctuation. This is a temporary seasonal position. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is February - August but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: February 2025.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/09/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-1084-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: providing desktop publishing services for technical reports, forms, newsletters, and/or management documents; providing computerized layout and design services; developing and maintaining websites; preparing electronic camera-ready print files, review and approval of proofs. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.B. or J.D., if related, from an accredited college or university. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities to do the work of the position to be filled, such as commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. You must submit a copy of your transcripts if you qualify based on education. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of credit hours above the first year of graduate school and divide by 18 or the number of hours considered as satisfying 1 year of full-time graduate study. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
