About the Position: Serves as the Army Community Service Family Advocacy Program Manager (FAPM).
Duties
Provides comprehensive assistance and liaison services to and for victims of family violence and educating personnel.
Screens victims of child abuse, neglect, and spouse abuse, evaluates their needs, and provides them with information about domestic violence, safe and confidential ways to seek assistance.
Coordinates with case manager in developing appropriate plan of assistance/intervention.
Assists in conducting support groups for victims.
Confers with medical staff and state representatives to exchange facts and to identify need for protective child services.
Attends various committees and councils to promote healthy family function to include Case Review Committee (CRC).
Conducts unit briefings on installation Family Advocacy Program policies.
Responsible for management of funds to include developing the annual budget for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Requires the successful completion of a criminal history background check to serve in this position.
- Child Care Background Check Required. Incumbent is subject to Central Registry Check (Department of Defense Child and Domestic Abuse Reporting System).
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position requires to be in on call status.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Basic Requirement for Family Advocate Program Manager:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Post-Graduate Experience: A minimum of five-years of post-graduate experience in community organization or management with at least two of the last five years in programs dealing with Family Violence issues. (The post-graduate experience must be included in your resume for qualifications determination).
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with victims of child abuse and domestic violence; 2) Recognize the need for professional intervention and refer to appropriate services; 3) Conducting education programs such as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Domestic Violence Prevention Month; 4) Consolidates and analyzes data on the Community Service Family Advocacy Program in order to meet program goals; 5) Developing local plans, policies and directives for a community service program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
