The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. The Office of the Under Secretary for Museums and Culture (OUSMC) oversees the Institution’s history and art museums, its cultural centers, and the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Exhibits and the National Collections Program.
Duties
This position you will coordinate programs and a variety of special projects under the direction of the Under Secretary for Museums and Culture. Assignments may include work on internal projects with Smithsonian staff as well as projects involving coordination with constituencies external to the Smithsonian Institution.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as provides guidance, support, and technical assistance to supervisors, management, and other senior staff on administrative, programmatic, and management requirements; writes, reviews, and develops summaries, issue papers, and documents for management and stakeholders; supports program initiatives and budget oversight.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
