The Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC), located at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS), is one of 20 GRECC's across the VA system. Through Congressional legislation, GRECCs were established with the mandate of Improving the care of older veterans through integrated research, education, and clinical activities. Inherent in the mission of a GRECC is the development of innovative clinical programs to improve patient care.
Duties

The employee will serve as a project coordinator for one or more clinical demonstration projects. In this position, he/she will be responsible for coordinating all administrative tasks related to the assigned projects and will assist In implementation of detailed work plans to achieve the project goals and timelines. He/she will facilitate the execution of these plans by developing a solid understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and motivations of each member of the Clinical Demonstration team.
He/she will work with the project Principal Investigators (Pis) to manage the study budgets and to complete all progress and other required reporting forms. He/she will work with the GRECC team in setting-up and managing project databases and provide data entry and security.
In addition, he/she will coordinate project participant care by serving as liaison to both VA and non-VA clinical care entities. These other clinical care entities include, but are not limited to, the VA Palo Alto Primary Care Behavioral Health Team (PCBHT) and the Stanford Partners in Caring Program. He/she will also provide some assistance with behavioral health counseling of project participants, with supervision.
Coordinate activities between the project clinical care entities, including, but not limited to, the VA Palo Alto Primary Care Behavioral Health Team (PCBHT) and Stanford Partners in Caring Program. Such coordination activities will Include, but are not limited to, arranging conference calls or meetings, providing timely communication of programmatic information and needs, coordinating flow of participants' care, and providing or facilitating timely access to address participant questions.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm)

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience includes Project management of clinical demonstration programs within the Geriatric Research Education & Clinical Center (GRECC) requires appropriate administrative skills to assist with the management of research projects, demonstrated ability to work with older persons, and some experience with counseling of adults. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as medical records, instructional material, books and manuals. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
