Duties
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is for future talent needs within the Financial Management Directorate hiring pipeline. Selected candidates will ensure obligations and billings are established properly, in a timely and accurate manner, process a multitude of financial transactions in various accounting systems and interpret/apply federal regulations to their work. Reconcile financial statements and reports in various accounting systems to ensure data quality, accounting controls, and accuracy for auditability. The selected applicant will work daily with various organizations to include: the contracting office, matrixed FM personnel, other organizations within NGA and external agencies to meet mission needs.Additional Application Requirement: You may be asked to complete one or more assessments in addition to the application you submit on this website as part of your application to NGA. Qualifications
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Online resumes must demonstrate qualification by providing specific examples and associated results, in response to the announcement's mandatory criteria specified in this vacancy announcement: 1. Demonstrated experience applying and interpreting fiscal law, policies, regulations, principles, standards, or procedures to financial management activities.2. Demonstrated experience analyzing financial data, budgetary, or program issues to provide recommendations.3. Demonstrated experience reviewing, processing, and reconciling financial transactions.4. Demonstrated experience drafting and presenting financial data summaries to stakeholders.5. Demonstrated experience providing customer service support regarding financial transactions.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Public Administration, or a related field. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in researching financial issues and evaluating financial operating statements, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to 1 year of experience. Candidates should show their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in researching financial issues and evaluating financial operating statements, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties associated with this work.-AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Security Cooperation Workforce Development Program (SCWDP) Certification may be required for this position. New workforce members or members transferring to a different or higher skill level will have, upon position entry, 36 months, depending on the SCWDP Tier required, to achieve their certification. Current members must maintain their current certification by achieving 60 hours Continuous Learning hours every 24 months.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Demonstrated knowledge of fund balance accounting.2. Demonstrated experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving financial issues.3. Experience interpreting, developing, and/or applying financial regulations, policies, and procedures.4. Ability to obtain DoD FM certification, Level 2, within two years of onboarding.
