You will perform a wide variety of building and /or utility maintenance and operations duties to assist journeyman and other higher grade maintenance team members.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is May- October, but can be variable. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2025
Duties
Perform recurring building and /or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance mechanics.
Work will consist of carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical, cement work, masonry, and operation of various types of motor vehicles, loaders, bobcat, and other equipment.
Work with the care for common power and hand tools as well as work with the materials associated with the trades.
Work from sketches, work orders, basic blueprints and verbal instructions which are complete in terms of type of job required and materials and methods to be used.
Responsible for detailed layout, selection of tools and materials and for accuracy, completeness and adherence to standards.
The Calumet area has a population of approx. 6,000 people. The Cities of Houghton and Hancock are located 12 miles south. Higher education facilities are available at Michigan Technological University. Park housing is not available. Summers are mild with temperatures from 70 to 90 degrees, and fishing, boating, camping and hiking are popular activities. Winter temperatures range from highs of 25-30 degrees with occasional sub-zero lows. Winter snowfall averages 150 to 250 inches. Winter recreational include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.
Ozark National Scenic Riverways is located in the heart of the Ozark Highlands of Missouri, in the southeastern portion of the state along the Current and Jack's Fork Rivers. The park features 134 miles of crystal clear, spring-fed rivers that are flanked by scenic bluffs, low mountains, and numerous springs and caves. The area serves as an outdoor recreational paradise offering opportunities that include "jet boating", kayaking, fishing, hunting, and swimming. Hiking and equestrian trails are plentiful in the area.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

3. Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
4. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading)

7. Knowledge of Materials
Physical Demands: Works in wood shops, other buildings, and at construction and repair sites. Climbs on ladders and scaffolds. Carry objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Required to stand for extended periods while operating machines such as bench planers, saws, and drill presses.
Working Conditions: Works both inside and outside. Some work is performed in shop areas where worker is exposed to moderate to high noise levels and sawdust in the air, glue fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment. When working at job sites, may also be exposed to hazards associated while working on scaffolds or ladders or weather conditions when completing projects outdoors.
