Duties
This position is with Office of Inspector General, INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT DIVISION - OPS, CCU, IMU, in Herndon, Virginia. This office is responsible for conducting assessments of criminal and administrative complaints of the OIG and fact-finding studies involving suspected or alleged violations of the Federal criminal code and other Federal laws, rules, and regulations. As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Assistant Special Agent In Charge) you will be responsible for:
Major duties include:
Supervising investigations that may be local, regional, interregional, or department-wide in scope involving fraud schemes, civil false claims, DOI violations, and allegations of other crimes. Cases may involve a wide range of criminal, civil, and administrative investigative techniques.
Administering the proper opening and closing of criminal, civil, and administrative investigations, ensuring that sufficient information exists to warrant opening the investigative file and legal jurisdiction is present for the OIG to conduct such investigations.
Reviewing, editing, and approving reports of investigation to ensure they are in accordance with OIG policy and clearly communicate the results. Preparing detailed reports, position papers, and other documents concerning DOI program areas or identified vulnerabilities for policy improvements.
Providing regular briefings and reports to management, attorneys, and bureau leadership regarding investigative findings and activities.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
Minimum Qualifications GS-14:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following:
Leading investigations that are primarily criminal in nature;
Providing briefings and verbal reports regarding criminal investigations to management; and
Writing, editing, or reviewing reports of investigation.
