You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the In-Service Support Center's Fleet Support Teams of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Duties
You will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of any branch/subordinate level engineers and related technical support personnel; as assigned by FST.
You will determine the best approach to resolve complex technical engineering problems. identify programmatic constraints involved with each problem and develop the solutions.
You will investigate, research, and determine applicability of modifications and schedule maintenance requirements for the program.
You will prepare correspondence, technical reports, and instructions for submittal to the FST leadership, other activities and contractors as may be required.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Leading others in developing engineering products and services.
2) Monitors performance of engineering technical analyses, engineering investigations, economic analyses and support services provided directly to the operational community.
3) Plans work to be accomplished, instructs and advises team on technical matters.
4) Prioritizes engineering efforts while also ensuring technically accurate and on-time completion of associated products and services.
5) Develops and trains team members.
6) Prepares correspondence, technical reports, and instructions for submittal to leadership, other activities and contractors as may be required to answer inquiries, relay or request information, and establish work assignments.
7) Provides primary interface with external stakeholders such as PMA, TYCOM and Fleet leadership.

Education Requirement:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated.
