This position is within the FAA, Aviation Safety (AVS), Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM), Aerospace Medical Research Division (AAM-600), Aeromedical Protection and Survival Laboratory (AAM-630), Aeromedical Engineering Research Sciences Section AAM (632). The Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) develops and manages medical programs in support of Aviation Safety.

Duties

Performs a mix of routine and varying assignments associated with analyzing, installing, repairing, fabricating, or trouble-shooting electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems and components. Reviews, reads and understands blue prints, engineering drawings, and schematics. Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and concepts at the full performance level as well as applicable procedures and policies. The work of this position involves functions such as research support, audits, testing, operation of facilities, systems, protocols/processes, test equipment repair, assembles or installs instruments and devices or materials. Use judgment, experience, and knowledge to solve problems and complete assignments.

Requirements

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • Pre-Employment Physical may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-G (FG/GS 10-11) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-F (FG/GS 9 and below) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience includes: Experience installing, maintaining, operating, and testing duties on complex projects or systems; troubleshooting and repairing equipment/machinery; reviewing blue prints, engineering drawings, and schematics; develops plans and insures appropriate corrective actions are taken to eliminate or mitigate hazards; maintains inventory; gathers information on specifications, vendor sources, and cost estimates; cords documentation, logs, and other data collectedANDQuality Ranking Factor (QRF): Well-qualified candidates will demonstrate experience with cabin safety research within their resume.ANDPhysical Requirements: You must be able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to yourself or others. Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History/Resume.
