Duties

Develop a variety of informational materials in accordance with public affairs guidance, regulations, and policies. Provide public affairs advice on news gathering techniques, journalistic writing and photography, and for preparation and submission of to meet regulatory, and policy requirements for media dissemination, security, and privacy requirements. Responsible for the Public Information programs which includes maintaining open lines of communication with both the on-post and local civilian communities and the news media. Responsible for workshops and seminars that are focused on the recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals. Attend meetings and functions as a Public Information representative of RWBAHC to obtain and provide information regarding services available, program limitations and conduct planning and coordination activities. Maintain record and reference files on status of on-going projects, completed projects, reference background and historical information, military and civilian directories. Write, rewrite, or edit information as required to synthesize it into proper form or format for dissemination through such media, i.e., as news, human interest, or feature items for publication or broadcast.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Administration or Public Affairs. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaCustomer ServiceManages and Organizes InformationPublic Affairs Policies and Procedures Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
