About the Position: Serves as the U.S. Army Human Resources Directorate Principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Government Information Specialist (GIS) for the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA) Program Officer, within the Fort Gregg-Adams Garrison Command.
Duties
Performs analytical work involved in establishing and managing public information in support of the Installation and the Garrison.
Monitors, analyzes, and evaluates work relating to development and/or execution phases of the Government Information/Records Management program.
Interprets Department of the Army records management policies and procedures and provides general and technical advice and assistance to the Garrison and Installation Commanders.
Receives, reviews, develops and implements installation policies and procedures for electronic and hard-copy storage and retrieval of records.
Serve as the Installation Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act Officer.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation (T2, Secret).
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) interpreting Freedom of Information Act requests or appeals; 2) determining the nature of records requests; and 3) tracking records process request and appeals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
