This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Central Virginia Veterans Healthcare System (CVHCS) in Fredricksburg, Virginia. The position serves as the Work Lead Equipment Operator for the EMS Sani-Pak Sterilizer, Floor Technician, sanitation, and snow removal.

Duties

The incumbent is responsible for: Performing the daily operation of the Sani-Pak autoclaving and is required to operate the Sani-Pak Sterilize. Operating the Sani-Pak Sterilizer ensures the proper processing of the facilities RMW. Loading and unloading RMW containers, transferring collected RMW bags into the appropriate Sani-Pak processing bags for sterilization. Complying with all regulatory and safety requirements relating to RMW material processing. Operating the Biological Indicator Monitoring Systems to ensure the Sani-Pak is treating the infection waste effectively as per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other applicable requirements. Entering appropriate data is entered into the SaniPak monitor to initiate processing cycles, select and track cycle run times and providing update to EMS Leadership when requested Work Schedule: 3:30 pm to midnight with various days off or 6:00 am to 2:30pm with various days off Position Description Title/PD#: Hazardous Waste Disposer/PD015740 Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
