This vacancy is for a GS-0203-5/6/7, Human Resources Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, HUMAN RESOURCES SERVICE CENTER WEST.

Duties
You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant and be responsible for providing administrative and technical support for processing a full range of staffing and personnel actions. Such support is rendered to Human Resources Specialists in the immediate office, but assistance may also be rendered to employees, management officials or the general public.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 04 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include the following (these examples are not all inclusive):
Maintaining employee personnel records in compliance with rules, regulations and established procedures.
Researching, documenting, and resolving several personnel requests using an automated personnel system.
Ensuring required documentation is accounted for and properly documented
Answering routine human resources related inquiries.
OR
EDUCATION: Four (4) full years of education above the high school level at an accredited college or university. A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing your qualifications on education.

COMBINATION OF EDCUATION AND EXPEIRENCE: A combination of education and experience as described above may be used to qualify for this position. A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing your qualifications on education.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 05 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include the following (these examples are not all inclusive):

Providing assistance and responding to technical questions regarding human resources related topics.
Answering basic customer inquiries.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include the following (these examples are not all inclusive):
Maintaining employee personnel records in compliance with rules, regulations and established procedures.
Researching, documenting, and resolving a number of personnel requests using an automated personnel system.
Ensuring required documentation is accounted for and properly documented.
Performing quality assurance reviews on personnel records.
Correcting errors and providing guidance and alternative solutions to problems.
Experience in responding to technical questions regarding human resources related topics, answering customer inquiries, and creating and maintaining electronic folders using an automated onboarding system
Experience performing technical human resources work to include assisting applicants with troubleshooting technical issues within the online application system.
Experience utilizing other pre-employment and post-employment human resources systems in order to track actions and make appointments.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
NOTE:
Education can be substituted for experience at the GS-5.
Education can not be substituted for experience and the GS-6 grade level and GS-7 grade level.

The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
