About the Position: This position is located with the Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Johnson, Louisiana. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

Directs the implementation of the Safety and Occupational Health Programs to include the worksite evaluation program, collection of records/accident statistics, safety awards, fire prevention, hazardous waste, and other regulatory programs. Coordinates the inspections of environmental conditions and assessment of hazards. Evaluates programs for compliance. Identify and implement remedial plans for violations or hazards. Conduct investigations of incidents involving injury and/or property loss. Coordinate with organizational leaders to identify abatement or mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Travel Required: Up to 10% Business Travel required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
• May be required to possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) managing safety or occupational health program elements in a health clinic or hospital environment; 2) evaluating a medical facility for hazards or potential hazards; AND 3) ensuring compliance with regulations and health standards within a medical facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
