You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (Fleet Geospatial Information & Services) in the Fleet Oceanographer Department of COMMANDER US PACIFIC FLEET.
Duties
You will serve as the Fleet GIS Officer responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring GIS policy for USPACFLT.
You will provide GIS knowledge and product support to the USPACFLT staff for current and future Fleet plans, special programs, operations, activities and investments (OAIs).
You will plan and execute approaches to problem solutions by reviewing existing methods, definition of problem areas, and selection of the appropriate GIS techniques and methodology.
You will coordinate with OPNAV, NGA, DLA, NOAA, USCG, USACE, Naval System Commands, Fleet Commanders and other organizations with the tasking, collection, production, exploitation and distribution of GIS products and services.

- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You may be required to perform temporarily assigned duty (TAD) at other military commands.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing scientific and professional direction through the coordination, observation, evaluation, and execution of the Geospatial Information and Services (GI&S) activities to develop and maintain GI&S policy directives, instructions, and correspondence for fleet mission requirements.

A. Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
