About the Position: This position is with General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital located at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

Maintain exceptionally high levels of environmental sanitation for the hospital in accordance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAH) or new and demanding standards of excellence in hospital sanitation. Determine short-range, intermediate, and long-range program goals and policies. Inspect of all areas of facility to ensure compliance with standards, contractual agreements, policies, and procedures Prepare the annual operating budget for the Environment Services operations. Coordinate with the Preventive Medicine and Infection Control Offices for culture sampling to identify any infection risk or trends Ensure contractor compliance through inspection and contract discrepancy reports

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent will be required to complete training for transporting Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) within six months of employment.
• Incumbent must meet all Department of Defense (DoD) Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) training and experience requirements or Federal Acquisition Certification within six months of employment.
• Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
• May be required to possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) directing waste management and/or recycling programs within a medical facility; 2) coordinating with contractors or contracted services to provide hospital housekeeping services; AND 3) evaluating medical housekeeping programs to ensure compliance with regulations and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or other related field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
