Duties
Demonstrate proper dispatching procedures, preventive maintenance checks and services, and document deficiencies.
Determine size of truck and trailer required to safely carry the equipment to be moved.
Operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment to prevent damage and corrosion of parts.
Ensure needed plans, material and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Utilize forklift trucks to load heavy equipment onto trailers.
Assign tasks to crew members based on knowledge, skill, and abilities.
Answer questions from workers about tasks to be performed.
Pass instructions from supervisor onto subordinates.
Recognize hazardous conditions while driving to avoid damage or injury.
Assure safety and housekeeping rules for operating vehicles and equipment are followed.

- This position requires a valid State Driver's License.
- This position requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 90 days of employment.

I am skilled in prioritizing workload, using equipment and materials for specific work; answering questions and providing assistance; applying safety and housekeeping rules in the work area; operate motor vehicles; issuing, receiving and accounting for equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 Pounds.
Working Conditions: Subject to working out-of-doors during periods of inclement weather. Exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
