You will serve as an Assistant in the Electromagnetic & Sensor Systems Department of NAVSURFWARCENDLD.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NG-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-07 and GS-08.
Duties
You will serve as an Assistant to the Deputy Department Head and Department Staff within the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department (Code B02).
You will utilize office automation systems, software applications (i.e., email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet search engines) and equipment to maintain records and develop documents.
You will maintain calendars, schedule meetings, schedule travel and track action items for the senior managers of the department.
You will prepare minutes for meetings, as required, and provide guidance to B employees on various office administration processes and policies.
You will create spreadsheets and databases to support effective office management.
You will coordinate with organizations both inside and outside of department (i.e., Travel, Payroll, etc.) as needed to provide support and guidance to department personnel.
You will handle confidential matters pertinent to the office with discretion and professionalism.
You will handle routine administrative matters and personally respond to routine and nontechnical requests for information available from files.
You will compose routine correspondence, review all outgoing correspondence for appropriate format, grammar, and spelling.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NG-02 pay band (GS-05/06 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing clerical, administrative, or secretarial support for an office or organization. Examples of qualifying experience may include: preparing correspondence and other documents; coordinating meetings; maintaining the status of action items; scheduling appointments; screening calls or visitors; entering data into electronic systems or spreadsheets to support travel, timekeeping, or procurement.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- One full year of graduate level education in a field of study directly related to the position; OR
- A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
