This position is responsible for providing direct clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, and elderly population with substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders and primary mental health disorders through the provision of individual, couples, family, and group counseling. The clinic also provides clinical services for the students at the Chemawa Indian School. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized.

Duties

Provides treatment taking into consideration traditional Native practices. Works within an integrated care model and collaborates with other providers, including physicians, nurses, dentists, and psychiatrists, to provide quality care for the whole person. Conducts comprehensive substance abuse evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning, along with addressing other mental health needs of patients. Provides strategic interventions, motivational interviewing techniques, relapse prevention strategies and crisis counseling for patients and families. Conducts assessments and screenings using standardized measures. Conducts case management services. Engages in patient advocacy and collaborates with physicians, social agencies, mental health, and health care facilities to bridge care and gaps in services. Plans, coordinates, and provides comprehensive referral services to patients and families. Links patients with needed community services for employment, housing, and follow-up care. Collaborates with hospitals and other healthcare agencies to ensure proper care coordination in the treatment/discharge planning and ensure seamless transitions of care. Completes clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record. Conducts outreach to provide prevention programming aimed at improving the overall wellbeing of the targeted population.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Individual Occupational Requirements: These are standards that describe the basic qualification requirements (for example, educational, medical, age, experience, etc.) for this type of occupation and are listed below under basic requirements. For definition of specialized experience related to this position and for type of license requirements related to the work of this position, please see Minimum Qualifications and Selective Placement Factor described below BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-11 FOR THIS POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade GS-09, which is the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks such as: work experience in providing individual, group, family, therapy; work with clients to develop strategies to change behavior or cope with difficult situations; and refer clients to other resources or services, develop treatment plans with the client, physicians, and other healthcare workers and may adjust the treatment plan if necessary based on their client's progress. OR Submit a copy of unofficial transcripts to show completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if it provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Demonstrate meeting qualifications for this grade level by indicating on resume and submitting a copy of unofficial transcripts to show a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Selective Placement Factor: Current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). Please provide a copy of your license with your application. Selective factors are special qualifications that are in addition to the basic requirements and the additional requirements which are listed in a qualification standard, selective factors are determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position. Candidates who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
