You will serve as a SHEET METAL WORKER (AIRCRAFT) in the MRO PRODUCTION GROUP, PRODUCTION LINES DEPARTMENT, VERTICAL LIFT PROGRAM of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will disassemble, repair, assemble, modify, measure, and or check, as required to, to process aircraft, aircraft engine structure, and components. You will work from drawings, manuals, technical directives, instructions and under the guidance of a higher-graded mechanic. You will use hand power tools (drills, rivet, funs, routers, etc.) and/or works with hand or power press brakes, shears, shrinking and stretching repairing, manufacturing, and/or modifying aircraft or aircraft engine assemblies or parts.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
