Duties
Serves as a Fitness Facility Manager directing and supervising diverse functions required to operate a fitness facility up to 64,798 SQ FT. Works under the direction of the Chief, Fitness, Athletics, and Aquatics.
Supervises and oversees the management and operation of a Fitness Facility.
Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation.
Continually assesses facility requirements and develops plans and specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities.
Publicizes sports facilities, programs and events by writing articles for local newspapers and coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.
Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Works with fitness facility staff to recommend purchase/construction of equipment and facilities.

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, and Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
- Must complete the following course(s)/class: MWR Orientation Course, Customer Service, and Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair)
- Must be able to work a schedule that may include working some nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualification Requirements
Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
Highly Desirable: Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and the ability, knowledge and skills to perform the duties identified above. MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course and Lifeguard Management.
Highly Qualified Criteria
Fitness Facility Manager NF-0030-03
Candidates who meet three or more of the following will be considered Highly Qualified and given priority over all other applicants.
1. Possess an undergraduate degree in a related field (physical education, kinesiology, etc) or minimum of 12 months in a NF-03 Lead Recreation Assistant position or higher.
2. Experience with the retrieval, compilation and upload of Military DARs to Electronic Document Management (EDM) platform.
3. Experience in the preparation of MWR and DOD Baseline Standard data call reports (ACRRO).
4. Experience in the preparation, justification and submission of a NAF Annual Operating Budget.
