About the Position: This position provides medical readiness to the 88th Medical Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Greene County, Ohio.
Duties
Plan and coordinate medical emergency management exercise programs for the medical group with other entities.
Execute emergency management exercises to practice and improve emergency response plans and capabilities to include drills, tabletop, full-scale or functional exercises and workshops.
Develop and maintain relations with tenant unit commanders and officials from federal, state and local emergency response organizations to gain their support and participation in installation exercises.
Establish and provide emergency exercise directives and/or training to installation and external personnel on all-hazard scenarios or national emergency exercises.
Evaluate exercises to identify points of conflict and develop workable solutions for improvement.
Write and maintain the Medical Contingency Response Plan to post information on processes or procedures for handling actual or hypothetical (for exercises) natural or manmade disasters.
Act as Medical Readiness Action Officer during emergencies and large special events maintaining communications and assisting with development of recommended response actions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance (SCI) or access. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigations are required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Tuberculin (TB) testing is required.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
- Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position may be subject to recall and report for duty during real-world or exercise recall situations and/or home station medical response situations.
- Must possess or be able to obtain after hire and maintain a Level II Anti-Terrorism certificate in national crisis/war.
- Must complete an Emergency Management Course within 12 months of appointment to position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a readiness program designed to eliminate or minimize hazards and issues, resulting from natural or man-made disasters, major accidents or war readiness exercises. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
