Duties

Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately 11.5 months or 25 pay periods and will be in non-pay status the remainder of the year. Yellowstone National Park, a natural wonderland and the first national park in the world, boasts a dedicated team of professionals committed to managing and safeguarding the park's natural and cultural resources, ensuring a balance between conservation and visitor experiences. Yellowstone is one of the largest national park operations in the world spanning 2.2 million acres and receiving over 4 million visitors each year. The park has a team of nearly 1,300 employees and volunteers. Working side-by-side with wildlife is not uncommon in Yellowstone, and the size and diversity of the park is sure to make for an interesting and fast-paced work environment. Learn more about Yellowstone at Yellowstone National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) Spread over 2.2 million acres in the Rocky Mountain region of the country, Yellowstone's elevation varies throughout, ranging from 3,000ft to over 7,000ft above sea level, leading to variable climates and weather patterns across the park. Expect big temperature swings, rain, and even snow during every month of the year. Summer daytime temperatures vary from the 70's to the 90's at lower elevations, and winter temperatures range from the 20's to below zero at night. This position is located in the North District of the park in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Park headquarters are located in Mammoth's historic district, with a large hub of facilities, concessions, and administrative offices, all hosted in buildings from the Army era of Yellowstone. The nearest groceries are available 20 minutes north in Gardiner, MT, and larger big-box stores are located 1.5 hours away in Bozeman, MT. There is an employee rec center and pub. There is a small clinic open year-round in Mammoth. Verizon has the best service available in Mammoth, and in addition to Verizon, both T-Mobile and AT&T have service in Gardiner.Incumbent serves as the Wellness Program Coordinator of Yellowstone National Park. Incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating park wide strategies and initiatives to support employee mental health, wellness, and resiliency for the Yellowstone team. Responsibilities will encompass coordination in the development and implementation of strategies to promote employee wellness for the betterment of each individual and the park. Provides program support to the Office of the Superintendent as well as each park division, with over 750 employees parkwide. The incumbent will also support the employee safety and wellness team sharing best practices, training, and program design.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/05/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one or all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) such as: Performing work that demonstrates specific knowledge of Health and Wellness principles; Developing wellness programs such as: conducting and evaluating needs assessments, implementing programs and/or activities, plan, organize, prioritize, and manage-multiple projects in the management of health and wellness programs; to include but not limited to emotional wellness, physical wellness, social wellness, career wellness, financial wellness, intellectual and spiritual wellness; Provides guidance regarding the legal and regulatory environment of the health management arena, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Assists with creating, conducting and promoting Health & Wellness trainings, and/or assisting in the measurement of training effectiveness of health and wellness programs. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL. M., (if related). You must include your transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level to combined with experience. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include hours per week worked and you must include transcripts. For example, an applicant has 45 semester hours of appropriate graduate education (50 percent of the education requirement for GS-11, in excess of that required for GS-9) and 6 months of appropriate experience equivalent to GS-9 (50 percent of the experience requirement for GS-11). This applicant would be qualified for a GS-11 position. You must include hours worked per week in your resume and a copy of your transcripts. VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Do not submit photographs with your application package. Requirements continued: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
