About the Position: This position is located at Naval Health Clinic New England. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Receives and addresses inquiries directly from beneficiaries, Medical Treatment Facility staff, other network agencies, and various interested parties. Provides assistance and education to a wide variety of beneficiaries on established TRICARE procedures and benefits. Schedules appointments as needed. Ensures that patients get access to correct providers. Using an automated data processing system and a variety of software packages, accomplishes a wide range of clerical, statistical, and data entry/retrieval tasks in support of administrative work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes being a point of contact related to healthcare insurance program matters, utilizing automated health records systems; and communicating effectively with customers and/or medical staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06. OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as healthcare administration, healthcare management, or case management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Care ManagementManages and Organizes InformationMedicine and DentistryWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
