About the Position: Coordinate and maintain liaison with other agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters. Support aircrews during flying and ground activities. Provide assistance to aircrews, necessary for the execution of safe flight operations.

Duties

Utilize military flight data telecommunications system to receive and transmit flight information between worldwide U.S. military base operations, Federal Aviation Administration, Flight Service Station, and International Civil Aviation Organization. Monitor radio navigational aids, maintains flight plan information for all aircraft movement, consisting of inbound, outbound, and local flights. Coordinate and maintain liaison with military, federal, and local agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters. Provide direct support to unit and other military and civilian aircrews during scheduled and unscheduled flying and ground activities Process flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight-line Driver’s License, per Army Regulation 95-2.
• Position is considered mission essential and requires reporting for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations, as directed.
• This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% or less of the time.
• This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. if related, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
