Duties
You will perform logistic functions to support the complex's ranges, access roads, range structures, facilities, and associated support facilities.
You will advise and assists Naval Special Warfare activities, as well as other agencies on matters pertaining to safety, use, capabilities and limitations of ranges and training areas at the assigned range.
You will ensure the operation, maintenance, repair, minor construction and ground maintenance of the NSW SCI Range Complex is completed and conducted IAW established policies and procedures.
You will ensure all range equipment to include target systems and training aids are available to support user elements training mission.
You will perform all supply functions to include liaison with the NSWCEN Logistics Department (N4), and the NSWCEN Ranges Department (N9).
You will oversee all barge operation functions to include funding requests and tracking barge requests with user elements and assigned military personnel for barge on-load and off-load.
You will perform all range munitions reports and reconciliations for user elements to include NSWCEN BTC, NSWG-1 and other user elements, ensuring daily expenditures are maintained.
Requirements

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position requires to reside on San Clemente Island during normal work week (Monday-Friday), generally 4-5 days per week. Employee is entitled to Off-Shore Allowances.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends to meet mission requirements. Employee will be called back to work in emergency situations.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current government driver’s license to operate assigned vehicles.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to meet Occupational Health requirements, i.e., enter the lead, respirator and hearing conservation
programs and conducts annual physicals as assigned.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Range Safety Officer and Range Officer in Charge designation.
- This position is a Tested Designated Position (TDS) and subject to random drug testing.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: directing or overseeing various facility range operation which includes providing supply logistic support, range safety, live firing training, weapons and ammunition storage support, berthing, and vehicle coordination.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree,
or
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M, if related.
