Duties

You will operate a forklift and/or other material handling equipment on a daily basis. You will check routing documents for accuracy, identify errors, make corrections, add needed information, prepare orders for materials, and prepare routing documents. You will interpret written information relating to industrial operations, i.e., receive and issue documents, parts and component route tags, parts list orders, blueprint and detailed process plans. You will examines items received to verify part number, identity, and quantity with routing documents, checks for discrepancies such as untagged parts attached or unreported damage.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and carrying for a short distance unassisted.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift certification within 6 months of employment.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and a physical exam annually.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Temporary actions taken under this announcement may be terminated at any time before the established not-to-exceed date.
  • Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is To Perform the Tasks of this Position without More than Normal Supervision. Sample tasks of the position include: Experience in material operations to include receiving, sorting, issuing, routing etc.; Experience operating material handling equipment; Experience checking incoming parts and reporting discrepancies; Ability to identify priorities and expedite critical items when needed and Performs tasks safely using proper safety equipment.
