Serves as a Field Maintenance Program (FMP) Engineering Technician assigned to facility improvement projects throughout the Central Service Area.

Duties

Technician contributes to the organization as a construction team member for projects that may have direct or indirect impact on air traffic control operations.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • This Level 5 (Moderate Risk; Public Trust) position requires favorable adjudication of a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) background investigation prior to appointment.
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Must have or successfully obtain and maintain a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with airbrake endorsement within 180 days.
  • Up to 90% travel is required throughout the Central Service Area.
  • The majority of work to be performed outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-G level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-F, FG/GS-9 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized Experience for this position includes:Heavy equipment operator, heavy equipment mechanic, engine generator technician, surveyor, electrician, welder, plumber, pipefitter. Experience in trade or craft (such as carpentry, concrete, roofing, masonry, gas and diesel mechanic) may be credited as specialized experience if the work provided intensive knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history. Errors or omissions may impact your rating or may result in you not being considered.Answer all questions to the best of your ability.
