This position is located at the Great Plains Area, Standing Rock Service Unit (SRSU), Fort Yates Hospital, Medical Records Department, Fort Yates, ND. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Coding/Auditor Supervisor in directing a group of Medical Records Coding Technicians in performing medical coding and data entry of all pertinent clinical data for all outpatient and inpatient encounters and field visits within the Service Unit.

Duties

Abstracts all necessary information and assigns codes (ICD-10, CPT, & HCPCS). Determines the final diagnosis and procedures stated by the physician are valid. Works with automated records systems. Assist with the review, analysis, technical evaluation of the Patient Component Encounter (PCC) form in relation to the completeness of diagnoses, procedures, and provider signatures. Conducts quality control and improvement tracking and identifying inadequate documentation. Communicating program software and hardware programs and maintaining workload logs. Generates daily error reports, performs error resolution activities, manages monthly database activities, ensures transmission are complete, and submits monthly data quality improvement reports. Manages and provides oversight of clinical documentation improvement program, manages the charge master system, works with the meaningful use coordinator to ensure data capture occurs, maintains comprehensive audit trails and logs for all processes performed, generation of various transmission reports, visit summaries, completes coders accuracy audits, and provides feedback to coders and clinical staff as required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Medical Records Technician Series 0675 Medical Records Technician Series 0675 Individual Occupational Requirements There are no Individual Occupational Requirements for this series. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-10: One year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: developing, directing, and evaluating a quality medical records program; continually monitoring program for accuracy, efficiency, privacy and to meet productivity, policy and regulatory agency and legal requirements; create, monitor, and maintain systems that ensure quality and timeliness of documentation and coding; work collaboratively with providers, registration and billing departments to streamline processes for coding and data collection. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
