About the Position: Serves as an Inventory Management Specialist for the Support Branch, Executive Services Division, HQDA, G-8. Supports the Property Book Officer in processing property book actions and maintaining all property book records for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8 (DCS, G-8) and Assistant Secretary of the Army, Financial Management and Comptroller (FM&C).

Duties

Hand Receipt Management: The incumbent is assigned to the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G-8 and is responsible for the detailed accounting of non-expendable Government property issued to DCS, G-8 and Financial Management and Comptroller. Supply and Furniture Management: Performs property disposal functions. Determines and arranges for disposition of excess property in accordance with pertinent regulations/polices. Office Automation, Space Management and Safety: Performs various general office duties such as answering telephone calls, receiving visitors, supplying general information as authorized or referring calls to supervisor or appropriate staff members.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires frequent lifting of items up to 75 pounds. Pre-employment physical required.
  • Occasional TDY may be required.
  • Must maintain and obtain a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

This position will be filled at the GS-09 or GS-11 grade level. The candidate selected for this position will be non-competitively promoted to the target grade of GS-11 upon completion of the following requirements: (a) satisfactory demonstration of ability to perform at the higher-grade level; (b) recommendation for promotion by supervisor; and (c) completion of all OPM qualifications, including time in grade and all conditions of employment. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: inventory management, supply chain management, operations or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes resolving problems/discrepancies with the hand receipt holder; arranging for the disposition of excess property; and verifying property book records (GCSS-Army) against the inventory records to confirm accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: inventory management, supply chain management, operations or business administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
