The location is the Coatesville VA Medical Center, in Coatesville, PA. The purpose of this position is to provide equipment support for the Facilities Engineering Service.
Duties
Operates a diesel powered front-end loader equipped with a 4-in-1 I 1/2 yd. bucket to accomplish a variety of heavy engineering work.
Responsible for operating a forklift used in lifting and moving materials and machinery; operates power street sweeper; power lawn and blacktop rollers.
Knowledge to move equipment in confined areas and skillfully operate the equipment and attachments used, which require good hand, foot, and eye coordination.
Operates dump trucks and trucks from 1 1/2 to 5 tons to transport materials as necessary.
Will operate, as necessary, pick-up trucks, mini vans, and sedans for emergency runs.
Follow general oral and written instructions, independently, without close technical supervision.
Familiar with regulations and procedures governing requests for Grounds services and be knowledgeable of the current availability of vehicles, equipment and personnel.
Responsible for the most efficient utilization of manpower and equipment.
Responsible for the safe operation of equipment to prevent injury to self and others, and to prevent damage to the equipment.
Work is performed in all kinds of weather and is exposed to noise, dust, and exhaust fumes
Work Schedule: 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday

Physical Requirements: Heavy physical effort through continual arm and leg manipulations are required of the incumbent to operate the complex and sensitive equipment controls so as to achieve safe and expert operation over rough and difficult terrain. Alertness and good observation abilities, including quick head and neck movements, are necessary to assure equipment balance and operation stability at the controls. The incumbent must be in satisfactory physical and mental condition and do it for duty at all times. S/He will be required to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, climb, jump and lift heavy objects for moderate time durations.

Special Placement Factor: "The incumbent shall be able to operate all station motor vehicles. The incumbent must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement.

Education
Specific Education is not required for this position.
The incumbent must maintain a current OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety training certificate.
