This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Carson West located at Fort Carson, Colorado. This position may offer a $10,000 recruitment bonus (see Additional Information Section).

Duties

Repair/replace rotary wing aircraft engines and assemblies. Conduct inspections to prevent equipment failure. Complete adjustments to installed components. Perform ground operational checks. Perform functional tests. Inspect aircraft engines. Analyze test results. Review technical publications. Interpret manuals to complete work orders. Employ FAA regulations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
• This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
• This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
• This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
• This position requires an annual medical examination.

Qualifications

POSITION IS ANNOUNCED AS A STANDING REGISTER (OPEN CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT): First cutoff date to evaluate candidates will be 29 NOV 2024 at 11:59 PM. This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for DoD Maintenance Activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Engine Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Maintaining and repairing rotary wing aircraft engines to include portions of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and a variety of less complex maintenance functions. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical effort: Must be able to stand for long periods of time; or endure recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching. Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside shops, aircraft, or outside in varying weather conditions. Exposed to high frequency and high intensity noises. Dirt, dust, grease, and fumes are normally present. Danger of the possibility of cuts, burns, shocks, strains, falls, and eye or skin irritations is possible.
